Apple Invites Some Developers to Try Swift Playgrounds 4 Ahead of Launch

Apple is working on an updated version of its Swift Playgrounds app, which is an educational tool designed to teach children and adults alike how to use the Swift programming language.

At the June Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple announced a new version of Swift Playgrounds, and now the company is allowing some developers to test it out in a limited capacity.

One developer who was invited gave us a peek at the app, but he had to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

Swift Playgrounds 4 will allow developers to submit their projects directly to the App Store, allowing for app creation on the iPad. There will be a simple, easy to use interface for submitting an app to App Store Connect without the need for Xcode on Mac.

The learning code will be able to see changes in real time as they type, as described by 9to5Mac.

Swift Playgrounds allows users to see changes in real time. Multiple people can work on the same project at the same time if the developer shares the project with someone else. SwiftUI controls, search across all files in a project, use quick inline code suggestions, and switch between Swift Playgrounds and Xcode are just some of the things that users can do.

Setting app parameters and getting an app up on the store are easy to do with quick access. A ready-made icon can be used by app creators if they choose a color and an icon.

Swift Playgrounds 4 may be released as soon as iPadOS 15.2 launches, since some of the features require it. iPadOS 15.2 will likely be released before the end of the year, but there is no word on when it will be.
