Nissan is putting its money where it likes to say it is EV-loving.
The plan for the decade is called "Ambition 2030." and focuses on making the lineup sustainable. There are a lot of hybrid and electric vehicles.
Over the next five years, the company will invest nearly $18 billion into realizing the vision. There will be 23 new electric and hybrid models.
Nissan has four electric concept cars that show their vision. 50 percent of the company's global sales will be for electric vehicles by the year 2030.
Absolutely, it's quite the "ambition." The Next Web points out that less than a year ago Nissan promised that 100 percent of new vehicles in key markets would beelectrified by the "early" 2030s. The slightly wishy-washier goal was not included in Monday's announcement. It's good for ambition to be realistic.
Nissan has been a mainstay in the EV world with its Leaf sedan. Reservations opened for the Ariya electric SUV in November. Customers will be able to buy the Ariya in fall of 2022.
Nissan is going to need that chunk of change to transform its fleet sooner rather than later if it wants to realize its "Ambition."
