Seager is moving.
The Texas Rangers and the star infielder agreed on a 10-year, $325 million deal on Monday, according to Jeff Passan.
In 95 games, Seager hit.302 with 16 homers, 57 RBI, 54 runs and a.905 OPS. He was productive even though he missed a large part of the season because of a broken hand.
He hit just.188 for L.A. in the playoffs, which was a far cry from last year, when he hit.328 with eight homers, 20 runs and a 1.171 OPS in the playoffs to lead the Dodgers to a title.
Seager has emerged as one of the best infielders in baseball when he has been injury free. Seager was always going to get a big deal in the free-agency class at the position.
The Dodgers were in the market to retain him, but their current estimated payroll is already the second-highest in baseball. Seager was not the only high-profile free agent on the team, with Chris Taylor and Clayton Kershaw also hitting the market.
The Dodgers' loss is the Rangers' gain. It's a great day in Texas.
The Rangers have been busy this week, as they reportedly added infielder Marcus Semien, pitcher Jon Gray and outfielder Kole Calhoun on Sunday.
Isiah Kiner-Falefa did an admirable job at the position last year, but he will be replaced by Seager. Don't expect the Rangers to be finished in free agency just yet, as they look to rebuild on the fly.
