8th-Grader Sees Dad Choking at Dinner Table—Performs Heimlich He Learned at School, Saves His Life

A teen in a small town Colorado saved his dad's life by applying the skills he learned at school.

Heather Christenson said that her husband, Fred, chokes on food after laughing at a joke at the dinner table.

When he heard his dad was having a seizure, he leaped into action, brushing past his mom so quickly that he accidentally bumped her to the floor.

The son of a man who is 200 pounds performed the Heimlich on his father, lifting him off the ground twice and expelling the obstruction from his airway.

The emergency had already passed when Heather grabbed the phone.

After the incident, he remembered what made him act so quickly.

He told The Epoch Times that he knew by the time of the show that he was probably dead.

It turns out that Paul Acosta, career technical education instructor at Brush Middle School, praised his student's ability to absorb his lessons after he picked up the Heimlich maneuver from him.

He can sit there and absorb information like a sponge. He was always trying things in the classroom. It kind of opened him up a little bit more, so he could build a lot of confidence in him as well.

The Morgan County Ambulance Service presented the town's first-ever Community Lifesaver Award to Aidan at his school.

The mom is both proud and grateful for the quick actions of her son.

Heather said that her husband was with her. Fred would not be here if it weren't for the actions of Aidan.
