A new, smaller, and cheaper sub is likely to be announced by Sonos. The text of the mention of a Sub Mini in the Sonos app is clear, and it is obvious that this is a real product. The Sub Mini is described as a smaller, cylindrical sub compared to the large, square, and expensive Sub.

People try to keep conventional subs out of sight with their large squares or rectangles. There are cylinder-shaped subs. The Sub Mini could be similar to the OSD sub.

OSD made this example of a cylindrical subwoofer.

The third-gen Sub retails for $749. It is nearly impossible to overstate what the Sub adds to the sound from an Arc or Beam soundbar, and that is something some people who are deep in the system would tell you. If you want to get really wild, you can add two of them to a home theater setup. The Sub Mini won't support double-subwoofer scenarios.

Even if it can't fully match the growl of a regular Sub, a cheaper one would be a welcome addition to the company's product family and let customers enjoy that fuller, deeper audio from their movies, TV shows, and music.

The Sub Mini has been reached out to by The Verge. The company has been hit hard by supply chain issues and has reported strong earnings again. Many products are backordered on the website. The company recently added support for the audio system in its soundbars and portable speakers.
