As word about the new coronaviruses strain continued to dominate headlines, a new flash poll conducted byDeutsche Bank Research Monday showed that most market participants aren't really that concerned about Omicron.

The new variant is seen by 10% of financial market participants as the biggest topic by the end of the year.

Roughly 30% think it will be forgotten soon, but around 60% think it will still be an issue.

The research is done byDeutsche Bank Research.

"For full disclosure, I would have picked B with a bias closer to A than C so I will be equally offside if Omicron becomes a game-changer," Jim said in an email.

The US responses were slightly more optimistic than Europe and the UK. Asia was the most sanguine, with 4% selecting option C.

The new variant was labeled by the World Health Organization, and that led to the largest Black Friday selloff since 1931.

On Monday, US equities were extending their gains. Many analysts have maintained their upbeat forecasts for the stock market.

"As the initial shock wears off a bit, traders could be eyeing opportunities," Chris Larkin, managing director of trading, at E-Trade Financial, said. We are in a different place than we were at the start of the Pandemic in terms of medical advances and the strength of our economy.
