Jack Dorsey resigns as CEO of Twitter

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) has a colossus in the form of Jack Dorsey.

Jack Dorsey is stepping down as CEO of the social network he helped found. The change takes effect immediately.

In his resignation letter, which he also shared on the social networking site, he said, "There has been a lot of talk about the importance of a company being founder-led." I believe that is limiting and a single point of failure. I have worked hard to make sure this company can break away from its founding and founders.

The company has a new CEO. Parag was unanimously appointed by the board after a rigorous process. He has been my choice for a long time because he understands the needs of the company.


In October of 2011, he was promoted to the position of CTO. He worked on the company's artificial intelligence efforts and led the Bluesky project. At the time, he said that he intended for the service to become a client of the Bluesky protocol. The project is still in the research phase.

In his resignation letter, he said that he will be stepping down from the board of directors when his term ends in mid-2022. The current chair, Patrick Pichette, will be stepping down as well. The new chair will be the president and COO of the company.

Since the founding of the company, Dorsey has served as CEO twice. His first term was two years long. In 2015, he returned to his previous job as interim CEO.

The 140-character limit has been doubled, and a new subscription option that allows people to remove their account has been introduced.
