SMU is hiring Lashlee as its next coach, according to sources. An agreement has been reached.
Sources say that Lashlee will replace Sonny Dykes, who is leaving to become the coach of TCU. The news conference will introduce the man who went 30-18 in four seasons at SMU.
Lashlee left SMU for the same job at Miami as he did under Dykes.
SMU won 10 games for the first time since 1984 and set a team record with 35 rushing touchdown, thanks to his work with quarterback Ben Hicks.
Lashlee became the favorite to replace Dykes at SMU as he emerged as the leading candidate to replace Gary Patterson at TCU.
After playing quarterback at Arkansas, Lashlee immediately entered coaching, working under Malzahn at both Arkansas State and Auburn. Lashlee was the offensive coach at the time.
