Denver Nuggets' Michael Porter Jr. to undergo back surgery, be out indefinitely

Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports said on Monday that Michael Porter Jr. will have a back surgery on Wednesday and will be out indefinitely.

Porter is expected to make a full recovery, and a timetable for his return will come after surgery, said Bartelstein.

Porter, who signed a five-year, $172 million max contract in September, has been searching for a non surgical option since injuring his back in November.

Porter had back surgery prior to the NBA draft and spent his first season recovering and becoming one of the top young forwards in the league.

He averaged 19 points a season ago, and he formed a partnership with Jokic and Murray that represents one of the league's top young cores.

Jokic is expected to return from a wrist injury soon.

The Denver Broncos have lost six straight games and will embark on a seven-game road trip in Miami on Monday.
