There is a profile of the woman who was the women's footballer of the year.
Miedema was named the Women's Footballer of the Year.
The Netherlands' and Women's Super League's all-time leading scorer is Miedema.
The record for most goals scored at an Olympics was broken by the 25-year-old.
"It's a bit surprising to be honest," Miedema said.
It's pretty cool to win something like this, and with the fans voting it's extra special.
Miedema said that female players are now idols.
Sam Kerr was second and Spain and Barcelona's Alexia Putellas was third.
The five nominees for the World Service award were Canada, Paris St-Germain, Norway, and Barcelona.
Miedema was surprised by her award.
Miedema scored the most goals at an Olympics in the women's event at Tokyo 2020 as she helped the Netherlands win the gold medal. Miedema's 10 goals in four matches was a new record for the Netherlands.
She broke Nikita Parris' all-time goal scoring record in October 2020 as well as helping the club to the playoffs, cementing her place in the Women's Super League history.
She was nominated for two awards, the WSL Player of the Season and the best women's award.
Miedema said that something like this always comes as a surprise.
I've been able to continue that form with the club because of the attention that I've brought to the Olympics, and I'm really proud of that."
The other nominees are all really good players who have had their own success at club and international level so I'm really honoured to have been awarded the player of the year and thanks to the fans.
After coming back from the lockdown, the excitement was there to play football again, to be back in the stadium with the fans. It has been enjoyable.
Miedema, who has already scored 13 goals for the Gunners this season, is the first player in the WSL to score against every team she has faced.
The WSL's top ranked team are currently on top with seven wins and a draw from eight games.
The Dutch forward is one of the nominees for the Ballon d'Or this year, and she hopes to represent her country again at the European Championship in the summer.
She said the trophy was the big one.
"As a player, that's the tournament you play for, that's what you want to show yourself at and be a part of as a team."
She said it was a hard one to choose from the past year. The Olympics was a big event for us and it was special.
The first game at home was really special. I hope someone else will break the goal scoring records in the future, but for the time being I just enjoy being on the pitch with this group.
Kelly Smith, England's all-time leading goalscorer and a former player for the club, said that Miedema's award was "fully deserved" and that he had been "outstanding" in the past year.
Smith said that she is a great leader.
She's a world-class player and many teams can't stop her. She has had a great season and I would have loved to have played with her. The players she's been up against are top-quality, world-class players too, but it's fully deserved in my opinion.
