According to CNBC, miners are using compromised Google Cloud accounts for mining. The report was published by the search giant's cybersecurity team. The report aims to provide intelligence that allows organizations to keep their cloud environments secure. "Malicious actors were performing cryptocurrencies mining within compromised Cloud instances," the executive summary of the report stated.

A majority of the 50 compromised accounts were used to perform mining. In most cases, the mining software was downloaded within 22 seconds of the account being compromised.
