Remembering Yosi Piamenta on Chanukah 2021

Travel is achieved by more than just physical means. Books, food, beverages, videos, art, and even music can all be accomplished through this.

The Festival of Lights, also known as Chanukah, is a holiday that commemorates the miracle of how a small quantity of oil for the menorah of the Temple of Jerusalem lasted for eight consecutive days.

I can't remember the first time I met Yosi, but it would be at a Jewish wedding. My cousin is a wedding photographer who is well known in the Orthodox Jewish community for his work, and although he has photographed weddings of virtually every faith and denominations, he is one of the best photographers. He hired me to be his assistant when I was 16 years old, and I worked with him for years, learning a lot about photography, and earning enough money to purchase the best camera equipment money could buy and travel worldwide.

One band would finish a set of traditional Jewish music and another would take the stage.

A member of the band was dressed informally in a corner with a bandanna on his head, which was not appropriate for a formal wedding reception. He would be strumming his guitar in front of the other members of the band. The raggedly grayish beard and mustache was not unlike most of the other men in the building.

The first note of the performance was one of the best I had ever heard. Both my cousin and I like rock music.

As the sweat flew off of his forehead, Yosi Piamenta was in complete control of that electric guitar as his fingers played every note. He owned that guitar. He owned that guitar.

My cousin and I were excited to see him perform at Jewish weddings. When Yosi saw us, he began to recognize us too, and we knew we were in for a treat.

Yosi would look at us with a mischievous grin and start playing licks and samples from songs by Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and other artists who are considered to be legends in rock music and work them into the music which the band was. Yosi didn't work with the same band every time.

I'm not sure if the guests at the wedding reception knew what Yosi was doing. Jewish men who listen to Led Zeppelin? Why not?

Yosi did not just play rock music to play the same way as before. I am convinced that Yosi Piamenta could hold his own against any of the best guitar players after viewing many of his performances personally. Yosi Piamenta should be included on this list as well because of the names of Mark Knopfler, Muddy Waters, Eddie Van Halen, Carlos Santana, Chuck Berry, Brian May, Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, Jimmy Page, and so on.

If you don't believe me, you can listen to the song Od Yishama, which is on the album, in the cities of Judah and Jerusalem.

The lead guitar solo work of Yosi Piamenta is mind-blowing.

If you want to hear blues, you should listen to the song Red House, which is in English and may be where your rebbe stays.

Final boarding call.

Music is a subjective matter of taste, so whether you like it or not is up to you.

It's like going on a musical journey and virtually traveling all over when you watch Yosi Piamenta perform live, but simply listening to the songs on the album does not do justice.

If you like his music, please give it a listen and see what you think. You can enjoy the music of Yosi Piamenta if you are not Jewish.

Although I have met Yosi many times, we never got to know each other.

Happy Chanukah in the year 5782! Your latkes and doughnuts will be delicious, and may the candles in your menorah last longer than usual over the next eight days.

The screeching noise Dave Schneider heard was not a good sign. The guitar was mangled between a mobile service elevator and a metal rail on the loading dock after it was damaged by an aircraft.

There are people who believe that the true spirit and meaning of Christmas is lost in a sea of advertisements and music, after almost two months of what seems to be non-stop sales and a constant onslaught of music in celebration of one of the holiest days for Christians around the world.

Inalty programs.

By now, you're likely to have eaten Christmas dinner, exchanged gifts, and listened to holiday music, but what exactly is important during the festive season of holidays? Family and friends.
