Kate Mulgrew, best known for her role in "Star Trek", was invited to speak to Space.com about "Star Trek: Prodigy."
Five kids are locked up on an obscure planet in an unexplored part of the galaxy in a new show from Paramount Plus and Nickelodeon. They escaped from their imprisonment and raced across the planet to find a starship buried in the sand of the planet's surface. They enter the ship, but can't make it work. With prison guards on their heels, they stumbled upon an Emergency Training Hologram in the form of Capt. Janeway.
The starship is called the Protostar. Since it has the NX registration, it could be an experimental ship. If you're looking for more Trek, check out our Star Trek streaming guide.
A very young star that is still gathering mass from its parent cloud has been mentioned in "Star Trek" before. The "Deep Space Nine" episode mentioned the Argolis Cluster, which was a protostar that was surveyed just before the incident at the Vulcan monastery at P'Jem.
We asked Kate Mulgrew about the "Omega Directive" episode where a type 6 protostar could be used to create a wormhole. The full interview can be watched above.
Do you enjoy being asked about the show? I asked.
"How do you think?" "How do you think?" "How do you think?" "How do you think?" Mulgrew replied with a quizzical tone.
Do you mind if I ask you a question about the show? I continued.
I was wondering if that was coming and I'm not surprised. Go for it! Mulgrew said with a laugh.
Is this an indication of what's to come, is this an experimental vessel designed to somehow travel to? I was almost out of breath when I asked.
"Not only nerd, but beautifully and wonderfully nerd!" Mulkgrew smiled. "But unanswerable, due to what happened." You're going to have to watch.
