Sources told Jeff Passan that the Minnesota Twins and center fielder Byron Buxton are in agreement on a seven-year, $100 million contract extension.
The sources said that the no-trade clause in the deal meant that he would be paid $500,000 every time he reached 500 plate appearances.
He has bonuses for finishing first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and 10th place, according to sources.
He was going to be an unrestricted free agent after the 2022.
Last season, Buxton set career bests in batting average and home runs, but he was limited to 65 games because of injuries.
He has played in more than 100 games in his career, but only once, when he won his only Gold Glove Award in the year of 2017: in 140 games. He reached more than 500 plate appearances in that season.
In seven seasons with the Twins, Buxton has a.248 average, 70 home runs and 204 RBIs.
