Musicians, artists, celebrities and culture makers are taking to social media to mourn the loss of Louis Vuitton and Off-White designer Virgil Abloh, who died unexpectedly at age 41 Sunday after a private battle with cancer.

Abloh was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. His illness was not known until his death. Abloh became the first African American designer in over 100 years to be the creative director of Louis Vuitton's men's collection in the fall of 2018, and founded the hugely popular Off-White brand. A statement from the company that owns Louis Vuitton said Abloh had died.
