Billy Napier has been hired by Florida as its next head football coach.

The hire was reported by Ross Dellenger.

The Ragin' Cajuns have a 11-1 record so far in the season of 2021. The team is going to play in the Sun Belt Championship Game on Saturday.

After taking over a Louisiana squad that went 4-7 in his first season as a head coach, he led them to a 7-7 record and a bowl appearance. The first season in school history with double-digit wins was achieved by the squad.

The Ragin' Cajuns won the First Responder Bowl in 2020 after going 10-1 in the previous two years.

Prior to his time as a head coach, the 42 year old gained experience at some of the top programs in the country, including as an offensive assistant at Clemson and a receivers coach at Alabama. The former quarterback was an offensive coach at Arizona State.

Dan Mullen was fired last Sunday after a poor start to the season.

After four seasons at Florida, Dannel produced a 34-15 record, with two wins in the Orange Bowl and Peach Bowl, before reaching the SEC Championship Game. His tenure ended with a slow start to 2021.

It will be expected that the Gators will return to national-title contention in a hurry.
