Giants Rumors: GM Dave Gettleman Unlikely to Return For 2022 NFL Season

The New York Giants are a team.

Dave Gettleman is not expected to return for the Giants' next season.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that Gettleman could retire rather than be fired. It's highly unlikely Gettleman will return for a fifth season running the Giants' front office.

The Gettleman era in New York has been a failure. Despite having three top 10 picks and trading out of the 11th pick, the franchise has failed to replenish its roster with elite talent. Injuries have derailed Saquon Barkley's promising career, Daniel Jones has never looked the part of a franchise quarterback, and Andrew Thomas and Kadarius Toney have also been injured.

The Giants are almost certainly headed for their fourth straight losing season. Changes began this week when the team fired their offensive coach. When Gettleman hired Joe Judge, he was considered a questionable choice, and he could be on the hot seat this summer.

Pat Shurmur was fired by the Giants after two years.

For the last 24 years, Gettleman has been with the Giants. He worked in the front office for 15 years before becoming the general manager.
