Ashes: England pace bowler Mark Wood wants to 'stick one up' Australia

Mark Wood was the one who took the crucial point in the series.

Mark Wood said he would love to stick one up for Australia in the upcoming series.

It's one of the biggest things I think about. He said that winning in Australia would be one of the biggest achievements of his career.

The World Cup was huge, we've won the Ashes at home, but to go there...

"To come up against this 'baggy green' thing that they keep talking about," he said.

We'll be wearing baggy blues and I would love to stick one up them.

The first of the five Tests will be in Brisbane. Australia retained the urn after a 2-2 draw in the UK two years ago.

In his first year as an England cricketer, Wood took a hat- trick in the fourth Test at Trent Bridge to give the home side a 3-1 lead.

Wood missed the series in Australia and England because of injuries, but he played in the fifth Test at The Oval.

Wood said that he wanted a burning fire to prove people wrong.

I'm hoping that I can match the fast bowling and top quicks that they have, and be part of the squad that brings the urn home.

We never seemed to do that well down under. I looked up to the man and thought I would love to be able to do that. Steve Harmison was remembered for bowling that wide.

Even if it is full of Australians, it's a great place to tour.

The only out-and-out fast bowler in the England squad is Wood, who will be tested by the pace of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc.

Even if the old Waca is gone, the fast bowlers will still find extra pace and bounce at the new Optus Stadium.

"I have a point to prove to the Australians that I am a good bowler, because I'm probably not the first name on the team sheet," said Wood.

I would love to bowl at the Waca. As a fast bowler, you think of the two places where the ball will fly through.

"As a fast bowler, you really want to sink your teeth into Brisbane and Perth, but playing anywhere would be fantastic."
