Herm Edwards determined 'to be the coach' at Arizona State next season amid NCAA investigation

The time is 11:18 PM.

Despite the NCAA investigation, Arizona State coach Herm Edwards will return in 2022, despite speculation about his status.

After the win over Arizona, Ray Anderson told the team that Edwards will be back for a fifth season. Arizona State finished the regular season with a.500 record.

The NCAA began investigating Arizona State for possible recruiting violations after the coronaviruses hit in 2020. Three Arizona State assistants were put on administrative leave.

The NCAA is investigating Arizona State's hosting of prospects during the recruiting dead period, which lasted from March 2020 to June 1, 2021, according to sources. During the dead period, recruits were not allowed on campus. According to several sources in the Pac-12, there are allegations of improper contact with prospects at an off-campus recruiting camp in June, as well as recruiting practices that occurred when the dead period ended.

"I'm going to be the coach," he said after the win over Arizona. I told myself that I wouldn't coach anymore if I didn't have the energy to take those stairs. I'll be going upstairs tonight.

He is signed through the 2024 season.
