In his return from a nine-game absence due to health and safety protocols, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid exploded for 42 points, but it wasn't enough to lift the team in a 121-120 double-overtime loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night.

He played 45 minutes in his first game since testing positive for COVID-19. He got to the free throw line 21 times and finished with 14 rebound, 3 assists and 2 blocks.

Harris missed the previous two games with a hip injury. He had 17 points, 9 rebound and 4 assists.

In the second overtime, he scored all seven of Philadelphia's points, including a baseline jumper that put them up 120-118 with 1:58 to play. With 30.8 seconds left, D'Angelo Russell stole a pass intended for Embiid and assisted on a layup by Naz Reid that gave the Wolves the lead.

Philadelphia had one last chance to win it, but the 3-point attempt was blocked.

Russell had 35 points, including 27 in the fourth quarter and two overtime periods, for the Wolves.

Without Embiid, the Sixers went 2-7. The Wolves have won seven of their past 10 games, but Saturday's loss drops them to 10-10 on the season.
