The new 'Hawkeye' villain ties to familiar faces in Marvel's wider multiverse

We don't know who the villain is and that's why Hawkeye isn't a perfect show. A new character is introduced at the end of the second episode.

The show's credits list Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez, and the episode ends with a closeup of him. Maya Lopez a.k.a. is a reader of the comic books. It is a familiar name.
Fans hope to see the character on-screen in the coming years, as he is featured in a number of comics and crosses over with established MCU characters. There is a series in the works. Clint assumed the gang that kidnapped him was led by a man sitting up in the shadows after she revealed her character.

There are a few key connections between Hawkeye and a certain other show, as well as her character falling in love with Matt Murdock while working, so let's focus on that. She was raised by a major villain like the one in the current MCU. Kingpin eventually turned on him.
Fisk has yet to make an appearance in the MCU, despite appearing in both Into the Spider-verse and Daredevil. Daredevil actorVincent D'Onofrio sent fans into a frenzy when he posted his anticipation of Hawkeye a week before the premiere.

In the comics, she wore the Ronin suit. She works with and against characters from all over the world, but she is the one who actually passes on the legacy of the Ronin to Clint Barton.
We don't know how Clint ended up wearing the suit for his murder sprees in the movie, but it's fair to assume he didn't hand weave it the day after the snap. He could have taken the identity of Maya or anyone else after five years as the Ronin.

Clint says that the suit has enemies, and we know from the first two episodes of Hawkeye that Ronin has unfinished business with the "Tracksuit Mafia". Hawkeye will bring in Yelena, who blames Clint for the death of her sister-figure, via Val, who appears to be assembling some kind of team.
Mr. Barton had hoped that the rest of Hawkeye would be on the Nice List this holiday, but they are not.

Playing coy with the villain isn't a bad strategy. We didn't know the villains of WandaVision,Falcon and the Winter Soldier until the finale. As Wanda's sitcom reality was unraveling, WandaVision set up a psychological thriller that led us to He Who Remains.
TFATWS led us on a quest that felt similar to Hawkeye after its first two episodes, a similarity noted in the show's review. Both shows have women in leading villainous roles and we can't wait to watch them in action.

Maya/Echo's role in Hawkeye could go a number of ways, but she's the perfect character to introduce for widening the MCU. Kate's introduction builds excitement for the possibility of Young Avenger. Maya is in the Secret Invasion comics. There are a lot of possibilities for this character.

Hawkeye is on Disney+.
