Birds of Prey Gets Censored on HBO Max, Will Get Re-Uncensored

Maybe you decided to watch Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn on the weekend, because it was pretty good last year. If you are one of those people, you were greeted with a card saying that the film had been edited from its original version and that it was more tame than the theatrical version. They have been playing the same version every other weekend for about a month or so.

You are not alone, and the news spread quickly on social media. The streaming version of the movie doesn't include the things that make it what it is. Fans were worried that the original version of the movie would be lost on the service since it was the first R-rated movie in the cinematic universe. The Warner Bros. spokesman told IGN that the broadcast version of Birds was added on accident, and that the R-rated film will be available on HBO Max instead.

The issue should be fixed before the weekend ends and it is nothing more than a minor irritation. It is a reminder that streaming services run the risk of wiping out film history, if you are interested in the preservation of film. Fans of film have felt vindicated about this, and have taken to social media to remind people to get physical copies of their favorite films. The alternative is more deliberate.
