San Francisco Is Sinking Into the Earth, Scientists Say

A US Geological Survey researchgeophysicist named Tom is saying that San Francisco is sinking.

NBC Bay Area reported that the European Space Agency's satellite images helped to identify every building in the Bay Area.

Most of the settlement is taking place downtown because of the large amount of buildings.

One is also tilted. The Millennium Tower was nicknamed the Leaning Tower of San Francisco because of how much it tilts each year since it opened in 2009, according to The Weather Channel. The residents heard a loud noise and found a large crack in the building.

The Millennium's foundation isn't root in bedrock and the city may be sinking due to a number of problems.

According to NBC, the combined weight of all the downtown buildings is enough to cause an earthquake fault, though luckily the famous San Andreas fault runs offshore before it reaches the city.

Climate change is connected to it all.

If you live near the waterline in San Francisco, you have to worry about big storms that sea level comes up and inundation more frequently.

According to NBC, he will be studying Manhattan next to see if sinking on coastal cities is related to rising sea levels.
