The United Kingdom has at least two people with the omicron variant of the coronaviruses.

The Secretary of State for Health said on Saturday that the cases are linked and involve travel to southern Africa. The people are at home.

There have been cases in Hong Kong and Israel in a relatively short period of time.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has not found any cases of the fast-spreading variant in the U.S.

Omicron is a new variant of concern.
