Is a Virgin Atlantic Flying Club status match worth it?
The status match is open to frequent flyers of several more airlines, but only if you have a revenue ticket booked, which is a major restriction.
Virgin Atlantic's status requirements are usually as follows.
400 tier points are required for Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Silver status.
Every year, the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Gold status requires 1,000 tier points.
Priority services include check-in, lounge access, boarding, and seat selection. If you are flying Upper Class, you might find that the perks are limited, since there is very little you are getting that isn't already included.
A lot of people like to have status in general, and the soft treatment may be better. I wouldn't go out of my way to book a Virgin Atlantic ticket to take advantage of this, but if I were planning on booking a ticket like this anyway, I'd take advantage of the status match opportunity.
You can become a Gold member of the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse.

The requirement to book a flight will be the main limiting factor, though I am sure this will be worthwhile to some people.
