On Friday, the match between DeChambeau and Koepka turned into a mismatch, as the latter won by four strokes at the Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas.

The match for charity was won by the four-time major winner, who had four birdies.

"I wanted to spank you, not going to lie," he said before the match.

The result was a bit of a surprise, as the golfer hadn't played well since helping the U.S. team win the Ryder Cup. He battled knee and wrist injuries this past season, then missed the cut in each of his last two starts and fell to 16 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Since the fall of 2015, DeChambeau hasn't made a start on the tour, and has spent a lot of time preparing for a long-driving contest.

"I haven't played in two months," DeChambeau said. No excuses, though. I should have done better.

The four holes to play are: 2, 5, 6 and 8. DeChambeau missed a putt on the ninth hole. It was the fifth version of "The Match," a made-for-TV series that began with Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson playing winner-take-all against each other. It eventually expanded to include NBA star Stephen Curry and basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley.

The DeChambeau-Koepka match up was one of the more anticipated ones because of the dislike that the golfer have for each other. At the May's PGA Championship, a leaked video showed DeChambeau walking past the golfer while he was talking and he rolled his eyes.

"Obviously, watching him up close and personal is pretty neat, pretty special to watch him hit the ball," he said. "Like I said, there is respect there, but at the same time it was fun to come out here and settle this."

"Did we become best friends?" asked the reporter.

"No," he said.

On the ninth hole tee box, DeChambeau was frustrated with how well Koepka was playing.

Where is this on the tour? "You're playing so well right now," DeChambeau asked.

"It's kind of like my major right now?" "I said that."

"I think it is," DeChambeau said.

Brian Anderson, who was doing play-by-play of the match, asked if he wanted to play with DeChambeau more.

"I'm good," he said.
