Brad Marchand is known for getting under the skin of opponents. That extends to the benches as well.

The New York Rangers star Artemi Panarin was given a penalty for throwing one of his gloves at Marchand as the two were on the bench. Marchand was given a penalty.

As the two players were yelling at each other near the end of their benches, Panarin dropped his glove and hit Marchand in the side as the Bruins forward raised his arm in defense.

I was surprised by that one a little bit. Marchand said that he had had a lot of things thrown at him, but not particularly by players.

Panarin scored the game-winning goal and added an assist as the New York won the game. Marchand assisted the Bruins' second goal.

The Rangers weren't talking about the incident after the victory.

No comment. Ryan Strome said it would all come out one day. I don't want to say anything. I don't think it's my place. I guess we'll see what happens.

"I have no idea," said Gallant. I'm at the end of the bench. I saw that both of them were thrown out. I'm just trying to make the game better.

Gallant said that Marchy is a great player in the league.

Marchand was asked what Panarin could have said to get him to throw the glove at him.

Marchand said they were just asking each other how Thanksgiving dinner was. He didn't like what I ate.

The Rangers and Bruins will not meet again until April 23.
