Bills' Tre'Davious White Out for Season After Knee Injury Diagnosed as Torn ACL

White will miss the rest of the Bills' season because of a torn knee.

White, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, suffered the knee injury during Thursday's 31-6 win over the New Orleans Saints.

Losing one of the league's best corners is a major blow to a Buffalo team with Super Bowl hopes.

The Bills were second in total defense in both of the years. The defense didn't live up to the high standard they set in the 2020 season, falling to 14th in total defense.

The first half of the season saw the return of White and Co. They lead the league in total defense thanks to their success defending the pass. They have the highest opponent passer rating and second lowest passing yards allowed per game.

In 11 games this season, the first-round pick recorded 41 total tackles, six passes defended, one interception, and one forced fumbled, while often being matched up with the opponent's top wide receiver.

Allen told reporters after the Thanksgiving Day game that he hoped nothing was too serious for him. You can't say a bad thing about that man. He busts his ass every day.

"Tre'Davious is a huge player for us and his presence on the football field is unparalleled, and hopefully he's healthy," Hyde said.

Buffalo doesn't have another corner that can play White's role.

Taron Johnson is at his best in the slot, where he'll likely stay following White's injury, and Levi Wallace has gone through an up-and-down four-year career as the Bills' No. 2 corner.

Jackson, a 2020 seventh-round selection, stepped into the lineup Thursday and will likely become a full-time starter moving forward. Trying to contain the best receiver in the country would be a big challenge.

The safety tandem of Hyde and Jordan Poyer will be under a lot of pressure to make up for the mistakes Wallace and Jackson will make in their new roles.

White was one of the few players the Bills could not afford to lose without putting their Super Bowl hopes in serious danger.

Next up for the Bills is a crucial game against the New England Pats in Week 13.
