On Thanksgiving, Matt Nagy could exhale.

The 16-14 victory over the Detroit Lions made the Chicago Bears coach extremely thankful for a much-needed celebration as they snapped a five-game losing skid.

There's always going to be distraction in every sport, in all aspects of life. It's how you deal with them. It could've went a lot of different ways, but we got the win today. The reason we got the win is because of how they handled the distraction. It's my job to make sure that honest and open communication is maintained when you're in this business. I can't tell you how much this win means to me because of what they did.

A report on Patch.com on Tuesday claimed that the Bears had already told Nagy that Thanksgiving's game against the Lions would be his last, which he denied as being false.

McCaskey told the players that Nagy would not be fired after the game.

The players wouldn't go into detail about the meeting, but quarterback Andy Dalton said the outside noise didn't bother the team as they were able to close out the win with a last-second field goal.

The Bears kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired to get their first win of the season.

There's a lot that has happened. The most important thing is for the guys in the locker room to stay together, and that's what I want them to do.

There's still a lot of season left, regardless of what's being reported. The focus is on winning games. I think the biggest thing for us is to do everything we can to put our best foot forward and to make the most of the next one, and that was what we did today.

Nagy wants to keep this team locked in now that the Bears have a win.

Nagy said that he has not allowed the chatter about his job status to affect his ability to coach the team and that it has not affected him on a personal level because of his support system in place. He hopes that will continue with everything cleared up.

Since I signed up to be this coach, I've been told that the only thing I can do is win as many games as I can possibly win, and do it the right way. Nagy said that when he lost five games in a row, he understood his job security moving forward. You know what territory it can get to when you're 3-7. You know what I mean? That is part of the job. I knew that when I took this four years ago. Every week is different.

This one was different. He said that this is one of those weeks where you use it. You don't make any predictions, but when you get home and everyone is having a good time, you know what games are next and you can enjoy Thanksgiving and get back to being healthy. It's all over. For me, the only thing I can say to those players is that I appreciate them, and we have a lot of guys, players and coaches who are great.
