Kevin Durant said it "means the world" to him to pass Allen Iverson for 25th on the NBA's all-time scoring list.

It means the world to me. "I dedicated my life to this game at an early age, so I watched all these guys that I'm like passing up."

I wanted to be like them. I wanted to make an impact in the NBA like them. He was the pantheon for me. One of the guys I looked up to when I played with my friends was one of those guys. It's all very strange. I had an idea that I would be in the league, but I did it.

The meaning of passing is two-fold. He was a kid when he first heard about the NBA and he got a front-row seat to Iverson's college exploits at Georgetown.

When he was a center on his childhood teams, he was still trying to copy the signature of Iverson.

I became a huge fan of him, just like everyone else. He was a huge part of the culture that was built at Georgetown, and he was a part of it. He had players when he came to the league. I was a center and power forward on a young team, and we were all long crossing and double crossing. A lot of people were influenced by him.

To be up there with some of the greats on that list is incredible. I have to keep going.

The Nets kept their recent run of play going with their performance against the Celtics, who had entered the game with wins in, and the Nets had a chance to move inside the top 20 scorers of all time with the first basket of the game by KD.

Ime Udoka, the coach of the Celtics who served as an assistant coach on both the Nets and Team USA, was going to be in attendance to watch the game between the two teams. The win here in Boston was made sweeter because Udoka was on the opposite sideline, and there was some friendly trash talk between the two during the game.

"Me and Ime were close over the last year and a half," he said. Just friendly trash talk. He talks so much to me. It helps that there's competition between us. We're going to be here late in the season.

It was good to beat Ime. I am excited to win in Boston. It's difficult to play there. It makes it even sweeter now that Ime is a coach.

The Nets held Boston to 37.4 percent shooting overall and 11-for-48 from 3-point range, including the Celtics' star wing duo of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, who finished 9-for-31 from the field and 1-for 17 from 3-point.

"Not discouraged at all," said Brown, who was a game-time decision as he continues to recover from the injury that cost him eight games. We have to continue to play good basketball.

We can't let the loss dictate the rest of the season. We need to bounce back. Good teams do that.

Brooklyn's defensive performance, coupled with the Nets shooting over 50 percent from the field and hitting 14 of their 35 3s, prompted James Harden to call Wednesday Brooklyn's most complete game of the season.

Harden finished with 20 points, seven rebound, 11 assists and two steals. I mean, so far. It has only been 20 games. We can continue to build on this so far.

The Nets have a worse record than the other two teams in the league this season, but they will get a chance to change that when they host the Phoenix Suns. While the game in Brooklyn last week between the Warriors and Nets resulted in a big win for Golden State, Kevin Durant stressed that Saturday's game doesn't take on much importance in terms of showing the Nets where they stand.

"We know who we are every day," he said. We know that teams are playing well. It is November. The playoffs are starting to come around, so every team wants to be in shape in the middle of the season.

I don't think this is going to tell us much about where we're going as a team, I'm not saying that we want to give away any games, but, win or lose, I don't think this is going to tell us that much about where we We want to stick to our principles and keep getting better at it. I understand the narratives around games and stuff from the outside. I don't think this can tell us much about what will happen down the line.
