There are two types of blenders, the one with the blade and the one with no blade. I was skeptical at first, but like my colleague Joe Ray, the Vitamix made me a person who blends food. A blade atop a motor is what a blender is. Everything else gets in the way. The motor is what makes the Vitamix so good. It's expensive, but it's worth it. This isn't the best deal we've ever seen, but it's the best we've seen this year.

There's nothing like homemade ice cream. I have used a smaller version of this model, and it was great. If you have kids who can make their own ice cream, it's even more fun.

The most common knife in every restaurant I've worked in was this one. It's lightweight, holds its edge very well, and it's easier to sharpen because it's thinner and softer than most European-style knives.

Do you want to host a backyard pie party? Ooni's pizza ovens are the best we have tried. The best deal is the Karu 12 multi-fuel oven, which is on sale, so it's worth browsing the site on your own. It allows you to use wood or charcoal when the flavor is important, or switch to gas when you need a pie in a hurry.

The kitchen has a fire pit. We like the Solo Yukon, but it's big. The model is just smaller and has the same fire pit experience. It's great for roasting marshmallows after a barbecue.

It's hard to describe Fly by Jing's Chili Crisp. It's not too spicy. It's not too oily. It's smoky, it's salty, and there are small, crisp bits of chili that add to the texture. It works well with noodles, soup, pizza, and eggs, but some online testimonials say the sauce pairs well with peanut butter or ice cream. WIRED reviews editor is a big fan of it.

Someone has to clean up after cooking. This scrubber is from Japan. It's great for cleaninguddy boots, the kitchen sink, and burnt caramel, and it usually doesn't leave scratch marks, so I have a few.
