The NBA Top Shot introduced many sports fans to the world of NFTs, and now the NFL is following suit. In September, the league announced a partnership with the company that runs Top Shot, and now we know the name of the service that will distribute the video highlight clips that make up the "Moments" that become NFTs: NFL All Day.

Is the NBA able to make NFTs cool?

NFTs allow you to buy and sell ownership of unique digital items and keep track of who owns them. NFT stands for non-fungible token, and it can contain anything digital, including drawings, animated GIFs, songs, or items in video games. The NFT can be one-of-a-kind, like a real-life painting, or one copy of many, like trading cards, but the blockchain keeps track of who has ownership of the file.

Nyan Cat and the "deal with it" sunglasses are being put up for auction, as NFTs have been making headlines recently. There is a lot of discussion about the massive electricity use and environmental impacts of NFTs. If you still have questions, you can read through our FAQ.

This effort is separate from the NFTs that the NFL is tying to selected games this season, but launching the branding now doesn't feel like a coincidence. There will be a lot of discussions between family members on Thursday, between the NFL promotions and the Macy's parade.

The trading and showcasing of moments will be done on the All Day platform, using the same technology as Top Shot.

The website hosting the NFL All Day waitlist has been updated, promising visitors that they can experience the future of fandom via digital video collectibles. It appears that things will be very similar to NBA Top Shot. You can buy randomized packs of moments. They are advertisingMelts that combine more than one play into a Moment.

There is a chance that there is an audience for Top Shot among hundreds of millions of football fans. It is not clear what they will do with these collectibles once they have them or if the marketplace can maintain its popularity as more users anticipate uncovering rare finds in their packs.
