How to Talk to Your Family About Elon Musk

If your family is similar to this reporter's, chances are you have at least one relative who believes that the guy in the picture has some good ideas.

The topic is as complicated as the founder himself, who is an enigma who has a ton of different identities.

It is difficult to talk to your peers about Musk and to family members about the idea of a doge coin.

We at Futurism have to pay attention to the CEO of the company, and we have you covered this Thanksgiving.

Between bites of apple pie.

Musk is a complicated character who founded the space company and runs the electric car company. He is the richest man in the world, but his beliefs and actions are not as popular as this delicious slice of pie.

Coffee and later in the afternoon.

Musk is a very complicated figure.

He is not a bad guy. He wants to help reduce from gas-powered cars, and walk the walk by owning the world's most popular all-electric car company, in case anything bad happens to the Earth. He is not a monster, and his personal politics seem to be more about his wealth.

Musk wants a better reputation. It's possible... himself.

For every good thing the man does, like going on a charity spending spree, he seems to do an equal and opposite bad or cringe-inducing thing that cancels it all out.

The Thai cave collapse disaster in which the CEO of both Musk's companies pledged to help rescue a group of 12 boys and their soccer coach made him a household name.

Musk promised to get the boys out of the spelunking trip, but ended up in a spat with the best minds at The Boring Company, as well as other companies.

The boys and their coach were rescued without Musk's submarine, but instead of being praised, he was sued for defamation by the hero. Talk about how you wasted your good will.

The Thai cave rescue debacle is an example of why many people have a hard time taking a seriously. How are we supposed to believe that he will save humanity if he is busy messing with the stock prices of a company that makes a lot of money, and then trying to get the SEC to stop him? Is it possible that we live in a computer simulation? Or treating his wife badly? You get the picture.

Musk is an example of the way wealth goes to one's head, and at the end of the day, how we feel about him often correlate to how we feel about capitalism and its adherents.
