The US Department of Defense is ramping up its efforts to see if the truth is out there with a new task force.
The group, dubbed the Airborne Object Identification and Management Synchronization Group (AOIMSG), was announced on Tuesday. Its mission will be to identify and attribute objects of interest spotted in military airspace. It wants to study the origins of UAP, which is the US government's lightly euphemistic term for aliens.
AOIMSG will succeed the US Navy's Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force, which was created to study UAPs that could potentially pose a threat to US national security.
There is a hot topic.
Most of the unexplained objects are probably glitch and optical illusions, but they are probably not from the stars. During a wave of renewed political and public interest in the topic, the announcement does come.
A bipartisan group in Congress introduced legislation last week to create an office dedicated to studying unexplained phenomena.
The jury is still unsure of how much the new task force will add to the conversation. The US government seems to enjoy dragging its feet when it comes to saying anything concrete about aliens.
Despite the gears of bureaucracy grinding ever so slowly, Washington is finally taking an idea that was once confined to the realm of conspiracy seriously.
The US Department of Defense announced the establishment of the Airborne Object Identification and Management Synchronization Group.
Politicians are pushing for an office to study tech from anyone.
