Apple’s digital driver’s license has been delayed to next year

The update to Apple's iOS 15 page states that the digital driver's license feature won't be available until early 2022. The feature was listed as coming late this year, but news broke that Apple was looking for strict control over how states roll out the feature.

Apple says that it will allow you to use its wallet app to store your identification at airport security. The system is dependent on your state supporting it, and the company announced that Arizona and Georgia would be the first to allow citizens to add their licenses to their phones.

A report showed how restrictive Apple's contracts were with the states chosen to lead the program. CNBC said that Apple has sole discretion regarding how the states market the program, how they report on its success, and even the date that they launched the program and the devices they are allowed to mark. States and taxpayers are responsible for funding the program despite Apple's decision to launch it.

It is difficult to see when digital IDs will be available, as Apple has conflicting information on its site. The holidays and vacations that come with them are fast approaching, which makes projects difficult to complete, especially if other organizations are involved.

The new version of the OS was released without a lot of the major features that Apple had announced on stage. Universal Control is missing for those who want to control their Macs and iPads with the same mouse and keyboard, though many of them have been added through updates. It will launch later this fall, according to Apple.
