Macy’s Is Hawking Its Thanksgiving Parade Balloons as NFTs Because Nothing Matters Anymore

Macy's will be releasing digital reproductions of some of its Thanksgiving Parade floats as non-fungible token (NFTs) in the name of charity.

10 of the most unique "floats" will be auctioned off on the Sweet NFT platform and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to charity.

The only redeeming quality of this publicity stunt is the charitable aspect. Macy's has created a smart contract on each of its NFTs that will automatically donate 10 percent of every resold image to Make-A-Wish in perpetuity.

It is a rare form.

Macy's will be releasing an additional 9,500 NFTs on Thanksgiving Day for free, with the caveat that they will be re-released.

The Macy's NFTs were designed by the Reometry digital agency, which is led by artists, and hence the name. The way in which they have gone about these designs is interesting, as they showcase not just floats that will be in this year's 95th Macy's Thanksgiving Parade but also past floats.

We are not praising this project or its artists too much.

The title of this description from another REO NFT is double negative, as if it were an insult.

The artist said that the inspiration for the piece was a voice in his head. I needed to hear a very real truth that I had been avoiding. It caused a deep conversation in the comment section of my social media accounts. Half of the people were against it, but others understood what it meant. I am excited for this piece to be my first foundation.

The 1950s Spaceman float is the highest bidder among the Macy's NFTs at $5,200 and the bidding closes on November 30.

If you want to spend thousands of dollars on a Thanksgiving Parade float with a little person walking underneath who looks like a character from a cartoon, then you need to know that the artist who ripped off the "Be Here Now" aesthetic designed the float.

The US government says that NFTs are now illegal.

Post Malone bought an NFT while we were slowly descending into Hell.
