Polestar’s Precept concept becomes Polestar 5 electric sedan

The Polestar Precept was teased and given a new name, Polestar 5, and a production date of 2024.

The Precept was revealed in concept form back in February, with a software system powered by the Android OS, and an interior full of sustainable material. Polestar posted a video of the new car and we got the closest look at it yet.

Polestar, the performance brand of Volvo, has become one of the more interesting EV companies on the market. The company, which is a joint venture between Volvo and its parent company, is planning to go public.

The Polestar 1 and Polestar 2 are the only two vehicles that Polestar has released so far. The Polestar 3 is expected to be revealed in late 2021. The SUV is expected to be the fourth vehicle.

The Polestar 5 has a four-door sedan and a small car in the rear. The company is calling it an electric performance 4-door Grand Touring car, which will likely mean it will compete with other luxury EV's.

Polestar did not release most of the relevant specifications, including price, battery size, range, and motor configuration. The Polestar 2 has a 78kWh battery pack that can provide The electric motor is able to give a 0–60 time in under five seconds.

The Precept was first released in concept form, and the company laid out its environmental credentials.

Polestar has teased that the Precept will have a deeper integration of the Android automotive system. As the driver approaches the car, the sedan will recognize them and ready their favorite applications and settings. Local accents and more languages would be possible with the help of the Google Assistant. Polestar thinks video streaming will become a bigger part of the in-car experience.
