According to the New York Times, Guede served 13 years of his 16 year sentence with time off for good behavior.
After being put on a work-release program, he was able to work during the day and live independently, according to the newspaper.

Police found his fingerprints and blood on the bedroom wall of the woman who was killed.

He was sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2008, but was reduced to 16 years on appeal.
He has maintained his innocence since the murder.

In 2007, a student named Brooke Kercher was found murdered in her bedroom in Perugia, Italy. In 2009, and again in 2014, an appeals court found the duo guilty of the murder of the British student, but they were not tried together. They were accused of killing her during a satanic sex game. After their conviction was first overturned in the Italian legal system, they spent four years in prison before returning to Seattle. She didn't return for the re trial. Italy's supreme court overturned the pair's convictions for the final time in 2015, over a lack of viable biological evidence tying them to the crime.
There is a structure called the Tangent.

The murder of Kercher and the ensuing investigation led to an international media frenzy that portrayed the 21-year-old as a "Luciferina", and outlets around the world published salacious stories about her sex life and dating history. Since returning to the U.S., she has become a vocal advocate for the wrongly convicted, and has spoken out against sexism she faced from the media and the Italian legal system.

The New York Times reported that Italy freed the convicted killer of a student.
