Cricket Australia's treatment of Tim Paine 'appalling'

The treatment of Tim Paine has been the worst in 50 years, says Cricket Tasmania.

The investigation into sexually explicit texts he sent to a female Cricket Tasmania colleague was the reason he stepped down.

He was the captain of the Australia Test team.

The treatment of the Australian Test captain by Cricket Australia has been appalling.

The messages came to light after the female colleague made allegations.

Gaggin said that the anger amongst the cricket community and the general public was "Palpable".

At a time when Cricket Australia should have supported Tim, he was seen as dispensable.

The treatment is the worst since Bill Lawry.

Lawry was dropped as captain before the final Test of the 1970-71 Ashes series and only found out by reporters.

After learning that the messages would be made public, he stepped down from his position.

There was no evidence of a violation of the CA's code of conduct.

Richard Freudenstein said on Saturday that the governing body should have handled the investigation differently.

Steve Smith was suspended after the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa.

When he took over, he promised to instill a new culture.

He was named in Australia's squad for the upcoming series against England before he resigned.

He scored a goal for the second XI.

George Bailey said he would not vote on whether or not to keep Tim Paine in the Australia team if there was a split decision.

The decision will be made by the three people.

Bailey and Paine played together in the past.

Bailey said he would step aside if the panel was not in agreement with Tim's position.
