The Boston Red Sox have exercised the club option on Alex Cora's contract.

In three seasons as the manager of the Red Sox, he has led the team to a winning record, including setting a franchise record with108 wins and a World Series title.

"I'm beyond grateful for the opportunity to manage the Red Sox," he said. We had many special moments as a team and as a city in 2021, but we still have unfinished business. I am excited about the current state of our organization and eager to continue my work with our front office, coaches, players, and everyone who makes this a special place.

During the regular season in 2021, the Red Sox went 92-70, including a Major League-best 47 come-from-behind wins. In the American League Wild Card Game, the Red Sox defeated the New York Yankees, while in the American League Division Series, they defeated the Tampa Bay Rays. The Astros defeated Boston in six games in the ALCS.

Chaim said that Alex's leadership of the staff and players was critical to the success of the team. I am excited for many years of continued partnership as we work together to bring another World Series trophy to Fenway Park.
