Review: I took the new Ford Bronco off-roading to see what all the hype was about — and I get it

At the September automotive event Mud Fest in Shelton, Washington, the Ford Bronco Badlands was added to its portfolio. The all-new Bronco model was a runner-up in the mid- and full-size family vehicle category and a runner-up in the Extreme Capability category.

The exterior styling of the new Ford Bronco is very desirable, and the model we drove had a gorgeous dusty blue paint job. I was itching to grab the keys and head to the off-road course.

The Ford Bronco has seven trims to choose from.

The Ford Bronco is two-door and four-door.
The Bronco Big Bend has two-door and four-door versions.
The two-door Bronco Black Diamond costs $32,050.
The Bronco Outer Banks have two-door and four-door cars.
The two-door is worth $42,095 and the four-door is worth $47,490.
The two-door Bronco Wildtrak costs $48,980.
The first edition of the Bronco was two-door and four-door.

You can find what's included in every trim in the options list for the Bronco.

We drove the two-door Badlands trim with four-wheel drive and the 3.0-liter V6 engine that produced 330 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of Torque. The setup can earn 17 miles per gallon according to the EPA, which isn't impressive in its class.

The 2021 Bronco Badlands has a good driving and braking experience on the pavement.

The Sasquatch package was included in the Badlands model, which included 35-inch tires, locking front and rear differentials, and high-clearance suspension and fender flares.

We took the Badlands on a small off-roading course, complete with a steep hill that dipped into a puddle, and a loose log bridge. The Badlands handled the obstacles like a pro, with dynamic capability driving over the hurdles while providing a grounded driving experience throughout the track. The Sasquatch package gave the Badlands a smooth driving feel even over the dirt moguls.

I had the option to put the Badlands in GOAT modes, which stands for "Goes Over Any Terrain."

The modes are labeled so it's easy to know which to choose, and it's also easy to change them with the dial control system. You just click "Mud" and the Bronco will do it for you, instead of making a bunch of changes yourself.

The Bronco Badlands model we drove had a cargo area protector, extra towing capability, a brush guard, and a roof rail with crossbars. The Bronco has over 200 accessory options, so drivers can really personalize this vehicle. It's perfect for going off-roading or tackling heavy-duty outdoors obstacles.

The base price for the standard Ford Bronco is $28,500 and the starting price is $42,095, but the model we drove came out to a total of $56,150.
All 2021 Bronco models come with push-button start and wireless phone communication, as well as aremovable doors and a canvas soft top that drivers can choose from. The two-door models can seat four passengers, while the four-door Bronco costs $2,000 more.

The 2021 Bronco Badlands was my favorite SUV because of its enjoyable ride and handling experience, responsive braking on the pavement track, and off-roading course.

The Bronco Badlands is equipped with a heavy-duty front bumper, skid plates, a rubberized interior, rock rails, marine-grade vinyl seats, and navigation, as well as automatic high-beam LEDs, tow hooks, and fender tie-down hooks, making off-roading a breeze
Even if you don't have a good view of the terrain through the windshield, the camera makes it easy to point your wheels where you want to go. When driving over steep dirt hills, you don't have to look through the windows to see what's going on, just check the Bronco's screen to see where your tires are and steer accordingly.

Motorists can easily hose everything down at the end of a long day hauling through mud or sand with the rubberized interior.

Taking a look at other SUVs, the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon comes in two-door and four-door body styles with removal tops and doors, and an excellent off-roading capability, giving it a run for its money with better fuel efficiency and a plug-in- hybrid. The Bronco Badlands is the vehicle with the stronger four- cylinder and V6 engine options.

The tailor-made Bronco is an exhilarating off-roading vehicle and it hits the mark on relative affordability, a comfortable driving experience, and as an exhilarating off-roading vehicle.
