Saquon Barkley expected to play for New York Giants on Monday Night Football against Tampa Bay Buccaneers

According to sources, the New York Giants running back is expected to play on Monday night against the Buccaneers if he doesn't have a problem with his ankle.

After practicing all week, he was listed as questionable for the contest. He has not been in the Giants' lineup.

He was hurt when he stepped on the foot of Lewis. His ankle ballooned.

The thought was that he would have to miss some time because of the ankle injury. Last week, he admitted that he ended up being out longer than expected.

The false positive test the week before the Giants' bye may have pushed his return back. After Friday's practice, he said he felt good, after returning to practice last Monday for the first time since the injury.

In his last game in New Orleans, he ran in the game-winning score in overtime and caught a 54-yard touchdown. It was a sign that he was coming around after a torn anterior cruciate knee that kept him out of the season.

When I'm able to make those plays, when those plays come to me, make those plays, and don't force anything, I still believe I'm capable of the things that I've shown on the field before. That's the only thing I can do. My expectations are those. Take it one day at a time, be a leader that I am, and be the leader that I know I can be.

In five games this season, he has 195 yards rushing on 54 carries.
