Troy Trojans fire football coach Chip Lindsey after three seasons

4:30 PM

Troy has fired its head football coach.

Brandon Hall was named interim head coach.

The athletic director said that he appreciated the hard work of Lindsey. A change in leadership is needed after significant review. I told Coach Lindsey that we would be making a change immediately. Our expectation for the football program is to compete for a title. The next head coach of our storied program will be the subject of a national search.

Lindsey went 15-19 in three seasons at Troy. He was the offensive coach at Southern Miss.

Lindsey said that they fell short of their goal of producing a championship-winning team. The administration at Troy gave me the opportunity to serve as head coach. Thank you to our players for their dedication. I'm proud to have been your coach and I'm grateful for the relationships we forged that will last a lifetime. I would like to thank my family for their constant support.

Troy plays Georgia State on Saturday.
