The IOC President spoke to Ms Peng on Sunday.

The International Olympic Committee says that Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai said she was safe and well in a video call on Sunday.

The IOC said that its president had spoken to Ms Peng for 30 minutes.

The main concern was that she was doing fine.

The woman who made the sexual assault allegations against the Chinese minister disappeared from the public eye for almost three weeks.

International sports stars and governments called on China to provide proof that she was safe when she went missing.

The statement said that at the beginning of the call, Peng Shuai thanked the IOC for its concern about her wellbeing.

She explained that she is safe and well, but would like to have her privacy respected at this time.

She prefers to spend her time with her friends and family. She will continue to play tennis.

An image of the video call was included in the IOC statement.

The Chinese state media released a series of photographs and videos that appeared to show that the tennis star was fine.

A state media journalist posted a video on Sunday showing Ms Peng smiling while standing with officials at a tennis tournament in Beijing.

According to the news agency, the player's photos were published on the event's official page.

The videos did not address the concerns of the Women's Tennis Association about Ms Peng.

Steve Simon said at the time that it was unclear if she was free and able to make her own decisions.

The chairman is worried about the safety of the person.

The UK Foreign Office said it was concerned about her, while the UN wanted proof of her location.

In early November, a former tennis doubles player named Ms. Peng posted an allegation about a former vice premier on a Chinese social media site.

She claimed in a post that she was forced into sexual relations with Mr Zhang. It was the first time that such a claim had been made against a Chinese political leader.
