A Hamas man shot and killed a person in Jerusalem's Old City before being shot dead by Israeli police.
The Jerusalem Post reported that two civilians and two police officers were injured in the attack. Two police officers opened fire on the attacker.
According to the New York Times, the attack took place near a sacred site referred to as Temple Mount by Jews and Aqsa Mosque by Muslims.
Hamas identified the shooter as Fadi Abu Chkhaidem, a 42 year old Palestinian from East Jerusalem.
The Times of Israel said that the victim was a South African immigrant who worked as a tour guide at the Western Wall.

The Internal Security Minister said that the man moved through the alleys and fired. The alley was mostly empty because there would have been more casualties.
