Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: Manchester United 'scrambling and reacting' as Norwegian sacked

The three-year reign as Manchester United boss came to an end on Sunday.

Gary Neville, a former captain of Manchester United, said that the club are "scrambling and reacting" to the firing of Ole Solskjaer.

On Sunday, Solskjaer was dismissed after United lost toWatford.

The departure of the Norwegian highlights a lack of planning at the club, as he had signed a new deal in July.

He said that they had tried to crawl to the end of the season.

They have no option there, according to Gary. Nobody is going to take over. They were never going to appoint Antonio.

They are reacting. They have given a manager a long contract and then fired them within a few months before. The planning at the club has been poor.

Michael Carrick has been placed in temporary charge of the first team while United look for an interim manager.

It would be foolish for the club to wait until their main target is available.

I worry about how the dressing room has deteriorated over the last few weeks.

They are waiting for Mauricio Pochettino to fail at another club. Paris St-Germain wouldn't let him go if he won the league.

He is the only name I think would work for Manchester United.

Solskjaer never felt like the right fit.

Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho on an interim basis in December.

He became United's fourth permanent manager in March of 2019.

Solskjaer oversaw a 29-game run away from home, the longest in English football, before it was ended by Leicester last month.

He did not win a trophy during his three years in charge.

"Manchester United are the same as everyone else now," said Jamie Redknapp on Sky Sports. They are in a race. They need to win.

I don't think anyone knows what they are doing. I don't think the Manchester United board knows what they're doing.

Ole Solskjaer never felt right. This has crept up on other teams.

There isn't a long-term plan.

With United looking to appoint an interim manager, it's likely that they won't make their next permanent appointment.

As well as being linked with the job, the former Real Madrid manager is an early favourite to replace Solskjaer.

Nedum Onuoha is a former Manchester City defender. Is he offered a contract? The caretakers will be replaced.

There isn't a long-term plan.

Jonathan Woodgate believes that United should go all out to get the job done.

He told the radio station that three European titles is really good going.

He doesn't get a lot of credit as a manager, people remember him as a player.

Who would be willing to give a treatment to a player? The two had great success together.

Peter was a teammate of Solskjaer's during their playing days at United.

He said he was not sure if he saw that person.

I think there are many other things that need to happen before we can say that we can be in that position. Today is a difficult day. It makes me sad.
