Ireland secured a clean sweep of the autumn Tests with a convincing win over Argentina.

Josh van der Flier, Andrew Porter and Caelan Doris scored for the hosts as they surged ahead after falling behind.

Tomas Lavanini was sent off as Ireland's lead was extended by Van der Flier and Dan Sheehan.

The Irish pack dominated.

It was an occasion that lacked much of the drama and suspense of Ireland's win over the All Blacks, due to the fact that the result was never in doubt from the moment Joey Carbery converted the try late in the first half.

The resounding result came despite Ireland lacking much of the easy-on-the-eye movement that has illuminated recent performances.

The hosts scored all seven tries in a very efficient display.

Andy Farrell had to make two changes to his starting side before the game because of injuries.

Irish forwards make Argentina pay.

The atmosphere on a sunny Sunday afternoon at the Aviva did not capture the imagination like it did last weekend after the win over the All Blacks.

Ireland were flattered by their 17 point half-time lead which was down in no small part to the wastefulness of their visitors, who hit the front after three minutes when Thomas Gallo off-loadd from a double-tackle to send Argentina through with numbers on the right.

Wing Carreras had darted through and should have had another score on 34 minutes, but he knocked the ball on as he tried to fend Andrew Porter.

The two gilt-edged penalty opportunities missed by Boffelli as Argentine points went begging.

Farrell has called for taking chances when performances are not at the highest level.

Carbery kicked 18 points at fly-half.

The pack was so good in all three games that they had three first half tries.

In the 11th minute, Ireland went ahead for the first time after Van der Flier went over from a maul, before the forwards again picked and went all the way to the line with Porter charging over.

With three minutes to go in the first half, Ireland went up the other end in their best move of the game, with James Lowe and Robert Baloucoune making gains on either wing, before the home side's third try came from a tackle by Doris.

Lavanini sees red as Ireland dominates.

The number eight was shown a yellow card for deliberately knock-on after Ireland's huge carry from Ryan Baird saw them romp towards the line.

Ireland made their numerical advantage count as they applied continuous pressure in the 22.

Carley had little choice but to send the second row off after Lavanini charged shoulder first into Cian Healy at a ruck.

It was a matter of how many Ireland would get, and after the ball was lost in the line, a fifth try came from replacement hooker Sheehan.

Ireland took their points total past 50 after Healy got his try six minutes later.
