Demand for pet-friendly airlines soars 950%, with Alaska Airlines and JetBlue leading the way

The demand for pet-friendly airlines has gone up a lot over the past year.
"There are many reasons why travelers choose to take their pet with them on their flight, whether they're traveling for business, vacation, or visiting family over the holidays," said the founder and CEO of Next Vacay.
Traveling with pets is more common than ever before. There was a 950% increase in searches for 'pet-friendly airlines in cabin' in the last year.

Two of the most pet-friendly airlines in the US are Alaska Airlines and JetBlue.
Alaska Airlines has one of the lowest fees for pets, as well as one of the most flexible policies.
The report states that JetPaws is a program that gives information to pet owners about traveling with their animals. Passengers can earn 300 points with their pet on flights.
Pet adoption spiked as the H1N1 outbreak took hold. People had more time to take care of a pet. Insider's Marguerite Ward reported that they were feeling more isolated and lonely.
The boom in pet ownership is being met with a surge in interest for global travel, as restrictions in many areas are loosened. Pet-friendly airlines are well-equipped to take advantage of this demand.
