The Arizona Cardinals are not expected to make a final decision about their starting quarterback until before the game, but signs point to Colt McCoy making his third straight start in place of the injured Kyler Murray, according to league sources.
Both Murray and McCoy are questionable for the game. Murray has a sprained ankle that he suffered last month against the Packers, while McCoy has a pectoral injury.
Sources told ESPN that Murray will be ready to play against Seattle, but the Cards want to see him before the game.
If Murray was unable to play at Seattle, he would get two more weeks to rest his ankle injury and be ready to return after the Week 12 bye for Arizona.
The increased risk of Murray reinjuring his ankle if he returns too soon is one of the factors that Kliff Kingsbury said was a factor in the team's decision.
"You don't want to put him in harm's way where that thing can get rolled up again," he said.
In Seattle, he has enjoyed success. He became the only opposing quarterback to win at Lumen Field in 2020 when he led the Giants to an upset victory in Seattle.
The 49ers were defeated by the Cards two weeks ago, but that was because of the play of quarterback McCoy. Chris Streveler replaced the veteran in the third quarter after he struggled against Carolina, passing for 107 yards and committing two turnovers.
The wide receiver will miss his third straight game because of a hamstring injury.
