The club confirmed that Solskjaer has left his position.
The club's owners, the Glazer family, were left with no choice but to part ways with Solskjaer after the club's fifth defeat in seven games.
The club said that Solskjaer had left his role as manager.
"Ole will always be a legend at Manchester United and it is with regret that we have reached this difficult decision." The past few weeks have been disappointing, but they should not obscure the work he has done over the past three years to rebuild the foundations for long-term success.
"Ole leaves with our sincerest thanks for his efforts as Manager and our very best wishes for the future." The club confirmed that Michael Carrick, who was part of Solskjaer's coaching staff, will take charge as interim manager.
The owners of the club and the executive vice chairman of the club had a discussion on Saturday night about the performance at the road. Matt Judge was involved in talks about compensation costs for the manager, as well as which of his staff would stay on at Old Manchester if he were to be dismissed. Solskjaer had signed a new contract at United in July of 2021, which ran until 2024 and had an option for a further year.
